I truly believe that in this century, the energy equation can be solved.\u00a0 If history is an indicator it will <\/strong><\/span>happen here in the United States.\u00a0 When that day arrives a new book will open describing a <\/strong><\/span>potential for mankind that we don’t yet have language for.\u00a0 This will take money, dedication, and <\/strong><\/span>sacrifice much as the moon landing did in the last century.\u00a0 The analogy fails in that, the moon <\/strong><\/span>landing was an act of exploration, the energy equation is an act of survival for if we fail, so will the <\/strong><\/span>hopes of fulfillment, belief in a brighter tomorrow, and the dreams of liberty that this nation has held <\/strong><\/span>forth as a beacon for two and a half centuries. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

U.N. Population projections predict a world of 8 billion people by 2030.\u00a0 Currently, Nearly one and <\/strong><\/span>a half billion people don’t have direct access to electricity, and\u00a0\u00a0 2.4 billion people still cook with <\/strong><\/span>wood or dung.\u00a0 Energy demand is expected to increase 35% by 2030.\u00a0 It is unlikely that this will <\/strong><\/span>happen without a disastrous conflict over limited energy supplies. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

It is abundantly clear that neither Wind nor Solar has the ability to supply the amount of energy <\/strong><\/span>necessary to improve the lot of the 85% of the world’s population still living in poverty.\u00a0 Both the <\/strong><\/span>International Energy Agency and the U.S. Dept. of Energy place the cost of these far above that of <\/strong><\/span>conventional energies.\u00a0 The size of the U.S. and European national debt is evidence enough that <\/strong><\/span>we in the developed world cannot afford it.\u00a0 It is not rocket science to conclude that the developing <\/strong><\/span>world certainly cannot. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The challenge for America in this decade is to restore and sustain our economy at a level allowing <\/strong><\/span>the dedication of a national research program dedicated to solving the energy equation.\u00a0 While our <\/strong><\/span>current energy system is less than perfect, it is in place, is reliable and sufficiently affordable.\u00a0 The <\/strong><\/span>billions of dollars being misallocated to wind and solar not only destabilize our economy and lower <\/strong><\/span>
\nour living standards but actually raise the possibility that our nation will not\u00a0\u00a0 survive in a form <\/strong><\/span>capable of solving the energy equation. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

This nation has proven it has the ability to achieve great things.\u00a0 In this one, we must not fail.\u00a0 If we <\/strong><\/span>cannot extricate ourselves from the mediocrity of cheap consumerism, if we cannot develop and <\/strong><\/span>embrace a vision and the willpower to demand real leaders for the challenge of this century; we <\/strong><\/span>cannot possibly succeed.\u00a0 If we are willing to blindly follow a president whose limited vision of <\/strong><\/span>
\nenergy independence consists of the resurrection and redecoration of antique\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 and failed <\/strong><\/span>technologies, our energies will be scattered and dissipated, our economy destroyed and our future <\/strong><\/span>immersed in failure. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

If instead of leadership we continue placing politicians the likes of Clinton, Bush, and Barack <\/strong><\/span>Obama into the highest office of the land, if this is the best that we can produce, then we will surely <\/strong><\/span>dissolve in to the same faceless dust as other failed great nations and, like ancient Greece, exist <\/strong><\/span>only as a remarkable and short event recorded in a world history dominated by a brutish existence <\/strong><\/span>
\nexclusive of human rights. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In 1953, the then head of the Soviet Union: Nakita Kruschev predicted that communism would bury <\/strong><\/span>us. If this nation’s leadership seriously believes that we can power a steel mill with a subsidized <\/strong><\/span>solar panel, it will surely come to pass. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
